The neighbors point the finger at Steve because he has a radio his wife tells them that he builds in the basement at night.
When Charlie accidentally shoots Pete, all the neighbors go crazy and attack charlie.
To begin, the neighbors don't realize that Goodman was just as surprised as the rest of them, so they just assume he's a alien. When he first began to start the car it had not worked, then when he got out the car they assumed that he'd started it because they were watching. He didn't understand what they were talking about when they first accused him, but then he began to understand what was going on. During their conversation, someone' wife said that they had seen him looking up at the sky in on his lawn in the middle of the night, as if he were waiting for someone, which made everyone assume he was an alien even more. They finally sorta began to trust him and started accusing others.
Nextly, the neighbors just point the finger at Steve until his wife tells them its just a ham radio. Steve's wife had been telling them that Steve has been up late at night in the basement working on something. Once everyone had heard about it they used it against him and began to point the finger his way. They were starting to imply that he was talking to aliens, but he kept denying it. His wife finally jumped in and said that she had go him a template on how to build it. The were persuaded and pointed the finger at the next person.
Charlie didn't even know it was Pete. Neither did any of the neighbors so they shouldn't blame him. In the beginning, it showed that they sent someone to the police station to figure out why the power went out. Overtime, the person had finally came back. It was Pete. During the neighbors accusing each other Charlie thought that the person might've been a monster and he shoot him. The neighbors ran over to see and realized it was Pete. They all turned their heads at Charlie and started to accuse him of trying to kill everyone. In the end, none of the neighbors were the monsters and they did all that solving and accusing for nothing.
