Storyboard Text

  • Mr. Black has just left the doctors and found out he has terminal cancer. As a high school chemistry teacher he never made a good living and is now afraid how his family will survive financially when he's gone.
  • I need to make money fast so I can leave my family financially secure before I die.
  • Why me God? Why did you give me cancer?
  • Here we see Mr. Black now taking on the role of principle in the 1st degree and by bringing Carter in it is making him principle in the 2nd degree. They use the time to figure out supplies, production, and distribution. This falls into the mes rea of the crime. The mental part of the crime.
  • Hey, Carter I found out I'm going to die soon.  So I've decided to make drugs to earn money.  Problem is I don't know who to sell too.  Will you sell and distribute the drugs I make? Also, do you know where we can buy some supplies?
  • Dude, no way! That sucks! You know I'll help you sell your drugs.  I know someone that can get the supplies we need.
  • Here Carter is going to his friend Emily to buy supplies for making, and distributing the drugs. He tell her of their plan to make and sell drugs. When Emily agrees and sells the product to Carter she now falls in to the position of accessory before the fact.  Even though she won't commit the crime she knowingly helped them get supplies.
  • Dude, Emily I need supplies so me and a friend can make drugs to sell to people. Will you help?
  • Sure, Carter I'll help you get the supplies you need.
  • At this point Mr. Black and Carter have made the drugs and went to the local dance club to sell their product. By producing, having possession, and actually selling the drugs they have broken many laws. This part of the crime falls into the actus reus.  At this point we have act and intent to commit a crime and that falls into concurrence.
  • LOOK AT ALL THESE PEOPLE WE HAVE SOLD DRUGS TOO!
  • So even though they weren't directly responsible for the death of anyone they sold drugs to, both Mr. Black and Carter can be charged with their death under the natural and probable consequences doctrine. This is where casualty falls in. Here we also see Carter bringing in someone else to help them hide their profits.
  • Turns out someone died of an overdose on our drugs and now the cops are looking for us.
  • Don't worry dude, I know a guy that will let us stay at his place until things calm down.
  • At the end after Mr. Black and Carter realized the cops were looking for them. Carter asked his friend George to give them a place to hide.  George knows they committed a crime and the police are looking for them.  When he agrees to help them hide, he now becomes and accessory after the fact. After it is all done it's up to the cops, and the district attorneys office to prove without a doubt that actus reus, mens rea, concurrence, and causality were present at the same time. This falls under the responsibility of the state.
  • Thanks George you're the greatest.
  • You guys can hide out here on my property until things with the cops blow over.  If they ask me questions I'll send them on a wild goose chase.
