  • John Bradshaw told the guards to take Charles I away so the trial carried on without him. People felt this was unfair for Charles as he was not allowed to question the witnesses.
  • After listening to evidence for four days the trial was over. The court decided a verdict of GUILTY!! 59 of the 68 MPs signed a death warrant for Charles to be executed.
  • Charles I was executed on the 30th January 1649. Thousands came to watch and many groaned when he was beheaded. Soldiers were there just in case someone tried to rescue Charles.
