- Fortunately, Darwin’s friends and other scientists defended his work and the book was published throughout the world.
- Darwin was born in 1804, he was from a British, wealthy family. He lived with his father Robert who was a doctor and a financier and his mother, Susannah.

- His father wanted him to become a doctor or priest but Darwin was more interested in the world around him. During his time at university, he studied plants and learned about animals.
- Despite having strong support, the book caused controversy. In fact, the religious beliefs of the time did not match Darwin’s ideas.

- At 22 years old he traveled around the world in South America, Australasia and Africa for five years. Thanks to this travel he could observe and collect a lot of things about animals, plants, and fossils.
- During the rest of his life, Charles continued to work on his theories while suffering from his poor health. He died in 1882, but his studies still help how we understand the world today.
