Storyboard Text

  • Federalism is a system of government in which the powers are split up and shared between the federal, state, and local government.
  • Some advantages of federalism are that it allows for varying local traditions, states become "laboratories of government", and gives strength to the central government in times of national concern
  • Federalism also has its downsides. It prevents the uniformity of laws, unequally distributes the power, and prevents the states from making strong foreign and domestic policies.
