Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus are three friends having a conversation on the journey of their life.
We were both in soil but were soon migrating to a different location
Oh look over there, my Carbon friends are in a process of Deforestation! It looks like farmers are removing trees in order to increase acreage for crops and livestock. In continent like Africa, cocoa is mostly found in the agriculture industry. Therefore, because the Cocoa businesses are growing,, farms are needing more spaces to grow their plants.
It is the end of the growing season so the farmer decided to burn the dead plants I was in in order for the fire to break down plant matter into the soil. My buddy from the flame, Oxygen gave me a lift to the atmosphere. I can now see the world below me
The soil flows into the surface water and now I am wet
I am dry because the plant's roots absorb the nutrients from the soil
Well, I am quite dry... just a little humid because I am in a live plant.
I am absorbed by an algae and am at the ocean
I hope no one would eat oysters in the current algae bloom. My algae have many toxic compound that is harmful to organisms that bio accumulate it. I have domoic acid in my algae.
The plant I am in was eaten by a rabbit called Mr. Slim
Now I am in groundwater. Thanks to the recent rain, I was able to trickle down into the ground.
Will our journey ever end?... So far it's been quite a journey, looking back, we learned quite a lot about nature as well as the involvement of humanity.
If you think about it, we've been in biotic and abiotic components
Biotic is living thing (or organism). For example, fungi, wolf, bacteria, etc.
Biotic are non-living things like soil, sunlight, water, etc.
