As a Young child GWC mother was taken along with GWC. He was found but, Mary, his mother was never found.
George later was adopted by the Carvers Mary's owners and took their last name through his life.
The beginning of Georges college year consisted of making new friends and learning. But he also didn't have = rights he had to eat down stairs with the field hand .This was later reconsidered through his college year.
Later Georges first year at college he got a letter asking him to come teach a Tuskegee. He quickly accepted.
George explained to farmers they should plant other crops beside cotton, the farmers considered this and agreed.
GWC looked for new uses for sweet potato's and peanuts.
