Fredrick Douglass was yelled at and hit for no reason and was treated horribly. Like most of the slaves.
Fredrick lived in an average home with the other slaves. Fredrick would often have scars on his back from being hit from his slave owner. Fredrick would think about the women that the slave master would hit and slash their heads. Fredrick knew how to read and that this was not right, unlike other slaves Fredrick understood that unfair.
Fredrick Douglass was soon moved to another slave owner who was not as harsh.
Fredrick Douglass would sleep on the floor with multiple other slaves. Fredrick would often plan to run away at night and in the morning. The slaves would all sleep on the floor together to keep warm. Fredrick would talk about how he would get hay and lay don on it to rest. Fredrick would sneak and put something on his head like dirt in his blanket or use it as a pillow.
Fredrick Douglass worked in a cotton farmwhere he was watched by his slave owner to make sure he did not run away. Most slaves would try to run away and would get caught doing so and be punished.
