We're going to make America into a Great Society!
Lyndon Johnson became President after the tragic death of JFK. He intended to be an active president. During his presidency, he had the most impressive legislative record since FDR. He contrasted a program called the "Great Society" that was meant to continue the legacy of JFK.
President Johnson established Medicare, which provided federal aid to the elderly for medical expenses. He also created Medicaid, which extended the federal aid to welfare recipients and other indignant people.
I'm finally being paid for all the fighting I've done for this country!
It's only right that the government supports the elderly in the nation.
Lyndon Johnson declared the nation at "War with Poverty." The centerpiece of this war was the Office of Economic Opportunity that provided new educational, employment, housing, and healthcare programs.
We love you Mr. President!

Johnson supported the revitalization of decaying cities. The Housing Act of 1861 called for federal grants to be given towards the preservation of open spaces, the subsidization of suburban housing, and the development of mass-transit systems.
We're going to make America a better place for all Americans to live!
The Johnson Administration supported the Immigration Act of 1965 which eliminated the "national origins" system.
All nationalities are welcome in America!
The Great Scoiety is woven into our society today. The programs that Johnson created significantly increased federal spending. Because of the Great Soceity, hunger in America decreased, poverty reduced, and healthcare became available to many people who previously could not afford it.
