The fires had started and the smoke was blowing to cities. This problem that I am writing about is air pollution.
The pollution effects the city and the peoples lives by making them sick. Toxic air pollution affects more than 200 million people a year.
People became sick from the pollution in the air and some died from being burned in fires. Over 2 million people each year die from toxic air pollution.
People call 911 and inform the authorities about the fire so they can save lives. People can picket in front of factories that are polluting the air to stop the other air pollution going on like toxic air pollution coming from factories. The workers there that agree with the protesters could also start a walk-out.
The proper authorities go and put out the fire. One way the government help is that they could listen to the citizens and they could try to pass a new law or the government could try to make a factory that doesn't put out toxic air. Lastly, they could just shut the factory down.
They ended up saving millions of peoples lives so they may get awards. Nationally air pollution is getting better because there was improvement in carbon monoxide. Also, Particulate matter has been reduced by significant amounts by about 50 percent over the past 30 years.
