Sergeant Major showed up at their house while Mrs.white was knitting and Mr.white and his son Herbert were playing chess. He showed up with a strange item, a Monkey's Paw. He told the family of three that this item would grant wishes but with that came a dark price ... someone getting hurt or maybe even death!
Mr. White was then having trouble knowing what to wish. So he got help from his family and they said he should wish for two hundred pounds; so he did. As time went on, just a normal day Herbert was at work they got a visitor. He was a messenger from the company where Herbert worked at. He did not come with good news and Mrs. White could tell; he then said Herbert got killed by machinery!
Mr. and Mrs. White buried herbert. They were still mourning his death but night time came and Mrs. White was devasted crying and crying. She then had the idea of wishing Herbert back to life! Mr. White did not think it was a good idea, but he still wished. Mrs.white hurried downstairs because she heard a noise at the door but she did not know it was some sort of evil creature. Mr.White could tell, so he hurried for the paw and wished for the evil to be gone. As Mrs.white finished opening the door she was disappointed at the sight of nothing standing outside.
