Storyboard Text

  • Direct Characterization
  • "Her skin – for this was her sixth month with child – had acquired a wonderful translucent quality, the mouth was soft, and the eyes, with their new placid look, seemed larger darker than before. "
  • Speech
  • “Darling,” she said. “Would you like me to get you some cheese? I haven’t made any supper because it’s Thursday. “No,” he said.
  • Thoughts
  • "“I want some potatoes please, Sam. Yes, and I think a can of peas.”That was better. Both the smile and the voice were coming out better now. She rehearsed it several times more. Then she ran downstairs, took her coat, went out the back door, down the garden, into the street"
  • This quote shows direct characterization by explaining how she looked. It explains that she was 6 months pregnant.  It explains her facial expression with how she was acting. She says that her eyes were big and dark brown. Her skin was translucent. this could give the idea that she was very white and that her skin could be really stretched out.
  • Effects on others
  • “Have some more, Charlie?”“No. Better not finish it.”“She wants us to finish it. She said so. Be doing her a favor.”“Okay then. Give me some more.”
  • This quote shows Mary and her husband Patrick talking at the dinner table. She can tell that something is off with him. he has been working all day and has not eaten very much so she is trying to make sure he gets some food in his system. She asks him if he wants some cheese because she did not prepare dinner because its a Thursday night.. On Thursdays they are always supposed to go out to eat with some friends but clearly Patrick does not want to at the moment.
  • looks
  • This quote explains the thoughts Mary was thinking right  after she killed her husband. She was telling herself not to worry. She had to act normal and make it seem like it was a normal Thursday night for their family. She walked over to the grocery store and acted like nothing happened and quickly got the things she needed to cook dinner that night. she quickly went home and acted like nothing happened at all.
  • Actions
  • Mary Maloney Has a effect on others because when she actually killed her husband She made sure to put everything back in place and put the Leg of Lamb back into the oven. When the police finally arrived they were working on the case for a long time. It was around 10 at night and one of the police officers noticed that the oven was on and when they told Mary She told them to go ahead and eat the dinner so that the weapon she killed her husband with would be gone and there would be no more evidence in the house saying that she was the one who did it.
  • The women in the 1950s dressed very proper. They made sure that everything was some what covered and that not a lot of skin showing. If they had a stain on there clothes they would immediately change into something else. They had to dress good so their husband would like to see them more. Mary dressed in a white dress with her blonde hair short and curled at the bottom.
  • Some of Mary's actions could be at the very end of the video clip she just sat in a chair by herself. She sat in that chair in the middle of an empty room with no one with her. In the room next to her their were a bunch of police officers eating the dinner that she cooked, also known as the evidence. She sat in that room and started to laugh this evil laugh that sounded like something from a horror movie.
