The Mayan civilization started around 250 A.D.. The civilization lasted for about 1200 years and their population had at least 2,000 people in it. It can be compared to modern day Los Angeles.
They created augueducts.
The Mayans invented the calendar that we use today. It has 365 days on it . They could use the calendar to predict eclipses and they also used it to try to predict the end of the world in 2012 but that didn't happen.
theories for how they died out
The Mayans invented rubber from rubber trees. They used it for a popular mayan game. But the rubber is not a good as the rubber that we use for tires today cause the rubber fell apart easily.
the theory that i think was most likely to happen
The Mayans invented aqueducts to save space on top of land. Aqueducts were like tunnels filled with water.Instead of having to have containers filled with water on top of land they had water under ground in aqueducts.
Theory number one is that they dies of warfare. whenever they were fighting they were also doing sacrifices so they might have been fighting and lost a lot of poeple and did sacrifices not knowing that everybody was almost dead. Theory number 3 is that thye died of diseas like yellow fever which killed a lot of people. theory number three is that they died of famine like they died of drought or ran out of food. theory number 4 is that they died from a natural disaster.
The theory that i think is most likely to believe is that they died of disease. one reason is because of yellow fever. Another one is because of a type of bug that was in some of their food and they wouldn't know about it until they ate the food.
