Storyboard Text

  • Water in this picture shows how erosion has carried rocks and placed them on flat land. It also shows weathering since the rocks have been broken down into smaller pieces by the water.
  • Over time, the wind, rain, and waves have moved the sand and rocks and the shoreline is starting to disappear. This is coastal erosion.
  • Caves are made when erosion by wind or waves moves the rock and sand.
  • Coastal erosion and weathering also makes cliffs. The wind and water break off small pieces of the cliff dirt which is weathering. Then erosion carries the pieces out to the ocean floor.
  • After years of wind, waves, and rain, then entire cliff could erode away and the lighthouse would be destroyed.
  • Eventually, even this last piece of land will be eroded away and I'll be floating in the sea.
