On December 1st, 1955 Rosa took the bus home as usual, but her seat of choice was different.
The bus had been full that day, and when a white man got on the bus, the bus driver asked her to get off the bus so the white man could sit. Rosa refused.
If you don't get up from that seat, then the police will be called.
Do what you have to do, but I am not getting up.
She refused to pay a 10 dollar fine.
After Rosa was arrested, 40,000 African Americans refused to take buses and this movement was called the Montgomery Boycott.
where are those Negros?
This movement lasted 381 days. Only white people were seen taking public transportation. Bus companies lost thousands of dollars.
