  • Many men coming back from war suffered from psychological injuries and many were missing limbs from their wounds. Institues were built in order to help them.
  • "Flappers" were independent woman who left their domestic lifestyle and began to look for their own type of freedom. 
  • NO! Get out! You can't vote. Get out before you get hurt!
  • Why can't I just be treated equal?? I fought in the war too.
  • Criminal activity increased when the sale and manufacturing of liquor was made illegal. Bootleggers would secretly sell others alcohol in illegal bars, etc. Gangs and violence increased.
  • There was a lot of racism towards African Americans, who endured a lot of violence (attacks/lynchings). Racial tension was high. They were denied of their basic rights, such as equal housing, equality, and voting.)
  • While men were in and coming out of war, women entered the workforce and began to earn higher wages. Now that women were working, they were granted the right to vote.
