  • Today we're going to continue our Pig Projects by starting the Respiratory System so lets head to the lab!!
  • Start by unlatching the velcro to get into the stomach and pull out the organs. Then read what each organs function is .  Its written on the side of each organ
  • Read over the instructions and fill out the packet to learn the top organs of the respiratory system before we get to the main organ (lungs
  • The Class first starts off with  the continuations of the pig dissection project. They were already introduced to the system of using a robot pig / pig model and now continue using it leading from the digestive system notes to the respiratory notes.
  • We are doing great just starting on the lungs and we finished everything else.
  • Hows it going over here?
  • To open the pig the class must unlatch the velcro holding the sides of the pig together. When they open the pig up they will see all previous organs from digestive system and have to find the organs for the respiratory system. Each organ is written what is there function and relations to organs near it.
  • While you guys are finishing up Respiratory System make you way to the front to get the circulatory packet
  • Now its time to write a reflection on what went well and what could have been better usings these Robos.
  • Students will follow the instructions to go over each organ in order. They will then find the organ and and read what it says and take notes int the packet the teacher provided. The first organ they learn is the epiglottis which is at the top of the trachea and it closes over the trachea after swallowing.The larynx receives food,water and airand holds the vocal chords.The Trachea connects the larynx to the bronchi of the lungs and provides air flow to the lungs.
  • The next part the student will learn, are the lungs and bronchioles. The lungs is where oxygen enter through which runs it through blood vessels throughout the body, it is the primary organ of the respiratory system. Bronchioles are to ensure incoming air is supplied to each alveous
  • The conection between respiratory and circulaory system is they circulate blood and oxygen throughout the body. Students will learn this because it is written in the organ as well but for the main idea it will be on the notes and added to the packet 
  • After the whole "dissection" portion the kids will write a reflection about what was hard to understand and what could have been better. They will also write what they liked. A drawback would definitely be the kids attention san . they are more likely to pay attention to an actual pig. A good thing was everything was labeled with functions and all.
