56 delegates from every colony except for Georgia came to the first continental congress including Peyton Randolph, Patrick Henry, George Washington, and John Adams.

Because the king and Parliament had to be understanding about the grievances of the colonies and that the body must do everything possible to communicate the same to America and the whole world
The first continental congress congress introduced the debate between the delegates on whether or not they would become independent or stay with Britain.
Then the fighting broke out in 1775.
