Its a wonderful day for us here in Mainz, Germany! Today, on the year of 1440, Johannes Gutenberg made a marvelous invention: the printing press. My parents think its a big deal. My father is a merchant, and he really likes seeing what people had invented, mostly to sell it.
“Would you like to see Gutenberg’s invention Adam?
“Ok, I guess we're going then.”
We headed out the door, and started walking. The weather was breezy. I could feel the wind pushing on my face as we headed to the house of Johannes Gutenberg. After some time walking, my papa had said...
“Lets go search around more, I think we’ve already been here.”
“Are we going to see him? Its getting a little late.”
“I think we’re lost.”
We headed out again without a word, the breeze slowly freezing my face as we walked. The afternoon was coming upon us. We went to ask a noble we spotted.
“Sir, where is the home of Johannes Gutenberg?”
“Why not too far north.”
My face started to beam with excitement. We were finally here, after taking such a long time to get here. I walked up closer to the house. It was midnoon. I was so excited. I walked up to the door and knocked.
“Are we here?”
“Yes, I think so.”
I was bouncing up and down, waiting for that door to open. I heard footsteps becoming louder. He opened the door.
“Oh, why of course!”
“Good afternoon Mr. Gutenberg, can we see your invention?”
“Adam, wait for us!”
My father shook Mr. Gutenberg’s hand as he came in. I scanned the room for the revolutionary machine. I saw it in the corner, with a fresh pile of pages and leather. I can’t believe we finally saw his invention!
