  • "Good, he's asleep, but I should wait a couple of nights to see how well he sleeps."
  • The narrator is introduced. He wished to prove his mental health to the readers even though he killed a man due to his weird looking eye.
  • Exposition
  • The narrator lives in the same building as an old man who has a awkward looking eye. The narrator says that it looks like a vultures eye. Also it looks like it has a blue film over it.
  • Falling Action
  • "Although this house looks creepy, we need to go see what is going on!"
  • Over the next about week the narrator plans to kill the old man to get rid of the eye. Each might he goes into the old man's room with a lantern until he sees the eye.
  • Resolution
  • "I killed him, but only because of his eye."
  • While the narrator is in the old man's bedroom, he wakes up and screams. The narrator pulls the old man off the bed and smothers him with the bed. He stays there until he feels as though the old mans heart stops beating.
  • "AHHHH!!!!!!!"
  • The neighbor called the police, and they arrive, saying the someone reported a scream. The narrator says it was him to cover up who it actually was.
  • When the narrator hears ticking sounds he thinks the old mans heart is still beating so he confesses everything to the police to make it stop.
