Dally takes Ponyboy and Johnny to Dairy Queen to catch up. Intrigued and shocked, Ponyboy and Johnny listen to Dally as he tells them about Cherry being a spy and how Two-Bit got jumped.
Cherry was there the night Two-Bit got jumped.

After a long time of being as quiet as a mouse, Johnny finally told Dally that he Ponyboy are going to turn themselves in. Though Dally's reaction would typically make Johnny want to trash his idea, he knew that running around from the police all his life wouldn't be any good. In addition to that, he had no records, witnesses to testify and that it was an act of self defence.
What? Are you even thinking?
We have to turn ourselves in.
A teacher from the church alerts a man named Jerry that she is missing a large portion of her kids, after a fire has been discovered in the building. Johnny and Ponyboy worry that they started the fire with their cigarettes. Then, out of nowhere, POW! They darted into the flaming church, with no consent, to save the kids.
The kids are missing!
We'll save them!
Don't go! It's dangerous in there!
After the boys have gone inside, they find a group of approximately four children frightened in the corner. This moment brings out a fierce side of Johnny because he is under pressure to save the kids and himself on time. However, the church starts it collapse, but Ponyboy and the kids make it out, while Johnny is left screaming.
Less shouting, more moving!
Johnny wakes up in an ambulance while Dally and Johnny are in another ambulance. Jerry, one of the teachers at the church, was on the ambulance, informing Pony about everything that was fuzzy to him and thanking him for his bravery. He finds out that Dally has one, severy burned arm and Johnny has numerous burns and a broken back. Even though Pony tells Jerry they're greasers, Jerry still admires what they did for the kids.
I thought we'd lost you, Pony.
The Curtis brothers are reunited in the waiting room of the hospital. Unexpectedly, Darry turned into a pillow. He was a figure of softneess that finally let its true self show, and that he really cared fir Pony, but showed that in a harsh way. Now, Pony was home!
