  • Welcome. Today we will be teaching you about atoms, molecules, and compounds.
  • An example of an element is ¨He¨
  • Elements are a single type of atom. They also have ONE capital letter.
  • Compounds are two or more different elements combined. They have two or more capital letters
  • An example of a compound is ¨CaO¨
  •  An element is a substance that is made entirely of one type of atom. For example, the element sodium is made up of only sodium atoms. A molecule is a substance that contains two or more atoms chemically joined. An example is H2,O2
  • An compound is two or more different atoms bonded together. a Molecule is two particles (same or different) bonded together. 
  • some examples are, H2O, CH4, and NaCI.
