  • It was March 5, 1750 and it was cold outside. A crowd assembled right outside of a Boston Customs house. It started off as only a few people but increased which made the crowd more rowdier. The crowd shouted and threw snowballs, ice, and oysters at the Red Coats. The soldiers began to panic and shot 5 people that day.
  • John Adams agreed to defend the soldiers who killed those 5 people at the Boston Masscare. He believed they deserved a fair trial and wanted to show that the colonies had believed in justice.
  • The British had put a tax on tea on the colonies to help pay the debt from the French and Indian War. The colonies were upset and in the middle of the night, a group of men dressed as Indians and went aboard on ships that had tea on them. They threw a total of 342 chests of tea overboard.
