  • Years ago, there was a sixteen year old boy who was different from all the villagers. They thought he would cause an unbalance to their peaceful village.
  • They didn't have anything harmful around them, so they used rocks that were in a pile made by children earlier in the day to tease and throw at the boy.
  • Some people defended him, and those people were chosen through putting their names in a box and whoever's name was chosen would sacrifice their life for defending the boy.
  • o
  • years later... It was a warm, sunny day and you can hear the children's laughter as they gathered stones into a pile.
  • Then when it was time, everyone started to gather for the lottery, everyone was filled with anxiety and hope.
  • In in the end, with many protests and complaints, Tess Hutchinson "wins the lottery" or pulls the slip of paper with a black circle on it.
