Tom Walker considers himself to live a miserable life. His wife and him have a mutual hatred for each other. When she isn't trying to cheat on him she is hiding food and money from him.

While Tom is taking a shortcut home he comes across an old skull on an Indian war ground. After kicking it a strange being appears , the Devil. He tells Tom of a great treasure he can give him if they make a deal.
After choosing to deny the deal, Tom tells his wife about the whole experience. She then tries to make a deal with the Devil but ends of losing her life. To thank him for taking his wife, Tom decides to meet with the Devil.
Tom strikes a deal with the Devil in exchange for his soul. He is told he must open a broker's shop in Boston to extort people. After becoming very wealthy from this, Tom begins to worry about his soul. He starts attending church and reading the Bible in hopes to keep his soul from Satan.
One day the Devil and his horse appear at Tom's broker shop. He is there to take Tom and his soul. The horse takes him away, Tom is never seen again.
All of Tom's money disappears, his house burns down and his practice falls apart. There is nothing left of Tom Walker.
