  • Before the war started the British and the colonists held a meeting because the colonists (all the leaders of the colonists) was planing to fight the French in the summer of 1754. The main reason the British and French wanted to expand their land on North America.

  • The main cause is the British and French wanted to expand their land on North America. The British and French wanted to expand because for more trade routes. Both of them did not want to lose the lands they have.

  • In early 1754, the governor of Virginia send militia (army) and led by George Washington but the army lose under his command for the battle to claim land for French but Washington did proved his skills and ability and leadership to led a army.

  • In 1755, British Edward Braddock was sent to rid the river valley of the French and Braddock did not listen to Washington's advise for not using European style war tactics (where soldiers would line up in the open field of battle).  When Braddock did the European style war tactics it killed approximately 1,000 of his troops and got killed himself.  After Braddock got killed Britain declares war on the French.
  • In 1758, William Pitt a British foreign minister leads an effort a negotiate peace with Native American Tribes by using their fighting strategies and tactics. Then in 1770's Britain capture (the French destroy the fort before it got capture)  French fort and name it Fort Pitt.

  • The treaty ends the war in 1763 and the treaty is called the Treaty of Paris. After the treaty Britain gains control of French land from east of Mississippi river but not the settlements in New Orleans. After the war many of France's colonies in the new world were lost to Britain and Spain and British territory expanded greatly by doubling in size. England had made a proclamation in 1763 which the colonies had to pay debts from the war but the colonies were angry.
