- On the 23rd of August the German Luftwaffe began bombing London, these bombings contiue for over a year, thought they did slow down.
- August 31: The German Air Force attacked Debden Air Base where they dropped 100 bombs, this did significant damage to Debden
- Meanwhile in London...
- People were sleeping in the Underground, or in the subway tunnels, as this was the only safe spot to sleep while the Germans were bombing London in the night.
- The Germans produce five raids in a last ditch effort to overpower the British.
- One of the five went toward London, and a second one for London was stopped at 11am. The final three were headed for Portsmouth.
- The raids stopped as weather worsened, the bombing slowed, but would continue for the next few years. The 31st of October was considered the last day of the battle of Britain.
