I am responsible, organized, and good at collaborating. I can also work independently. These are skills that are useful for becoming an engineer.
Engineers often work in groups to complete tasks. They also need to be able to carry out tasks by themselves and pull their weight.
Organization is important to make sure tasks get completed on time. There is a lot of information that has to be put together.
When you become an engineer you get an iron ring to remind you that you made a vow that you believe your product is safe. The iron ring goes on your smallest finger so you feel it when you sign documents
Responsibility is especially important for Canadian engineers. Canadian engineers have to be sure whatever they make is safe for everyone using it.
I can improve my self-regulation by setting goals for myself in each class such as getting high marks. I can improve initiative by standing up for the rights of everyone. Engineers need to be honest and speak their minds since lives can be at stake
Some skills I need to improve if I want to be an engineer are self-regulation and taking more initiative. Engineers need to be able to set their own goals and take the extra step to succeed.
Improving all my skills, getting high marks and continuing my extra-curricular are all things I can do to increase my chances of getting into universities such as Waterloo, U of T, McMaster and Queen's
After university, I can apply for jobs at companies like Intel, Apple, General Motors, the government. If my marks are in the top 5% I can get a job at a great company right after graduating
