Three years ago I had moved back home from living in California for a while. A few months after I moved back I reconnected with an old friend from grade school.
We talked until dawn on our first night. Catching up and telling stories from our past that we were not around for. She told me that she recently moved back to our home town as well. We talked on and off for a while and went on a few dates together.
We talked about church and how i had fallen out of going, so she invited me to hers. I met her pastor with which i became good friends with after a few months and they enlisted me to play in the church brass band and the praise band. After several months I had started teaching music classes during Sunday school and grew closer in a relationship with God.
Doug and I would have our man-dates where we would go out and have lunch or dinner and talk about what was going on in our life and what we were excited about next in the Disney Marvel movies. And one time I brought up Jamie and I. We talked about our relationship and how i believed she entered my life through God's grace and how she had turned me around in my faith and that I wanted to be with her forever.
So our second anniversary came around and I planned an elaborate surprise for her. I was going to propose. We walked along a walking bridge across a river and up to this museum that looked over the city. It was a beautiful scene. But I was scared out of my mind. Until she said yes.
Months of planning and stress all worth the while if I could stand beside her in front of God and my family and friends and say "I DO". Our friend and pastor, Doug, had the honor of marrying us. This woman has been very important to me and my spiritual life since I met her.
