The reason I am becoming a voyageur is for my family. My dad is usually the one who sets off on the journey as a voyageur but not this year. This year my dad acccedently cut off half of one of his fingers so he was unable to make aa profit for my family this year so thats why i decided to become a voyageur
I just set off with my brigade on are journey. We just left about a few hours ago and my arms already are sore and tired . I miss my family but I know I'm doing it for the best, to help them . I'm not very homesick because my brigade members are keeping me comfortable.
My first trip arcross the rapids was tough, the water was very cold and it was splashing all over me and I got soaking wet. We ran right through the rapids as quickly as we could so nothing happened to are canoe or anyone of my brigade members.
I've made it
When we went across the big body of Lake Superior our boat almost sank because it was so rough and the waves were very bad. We set out across the middle most of the way and because of the nasty waves three of are brigade members had to bale.
We made it! When I first saw the Grand Portage I had a major sigh of relief because we had made it to a our destination. When I got out of the canoe and saw the trading post I thought it was really cool. I was very happy to see my brigade members as excited as I was.
I have decided to return to Lachine because I really want to see my family and it was a really long trip. Being a voyageur was really difficult but it was one of the best and hardest experience's in my life and it was also very fun. I started off doing this for my family because of what happened to my father and I followed through and finished what I started.
