Nya walks along, uncertain about the survival of her village... or family.
Nya takes the gourd, and drinks a spoonful of the dirty, brown, yet refreshing water, and fills the jug to the top.
Nya arrives home, and the first news she is given is that her little sister, Akeer, is sick. She is also informed that she must be treated immediately, because of the extent of her sickness.
Nya and her mother take Akeer to the nearest health center, which is a small area a few miles away. The doctor tells them in very bad Arabic and lots of English, that Akeer is sick because of lack of sanitary water.
Nya watches two men arrive at the village, and is curious as to what they want. She is bewildered when her father begins speaking to the men.
Nya and Dep discuss what the men are talking about, and Nya learns that they are supposedly searching for water, which they are told is in between two trees
