  • To alter the shape, it's best to use the formula of y= a|x-h|+k. Each variable in this equation change the placement and shape of the figure.
  • For starters, graphing can be really simple when it comes to absolute value. When y= |x| the shape is set at the origin point.
  • This first topic that we are going to go over is absolute value. Specifically graphing and equations.
  • The variable A, helps determine the slope, compression, and stretch. If a is less than 1 than the shape will be vertically compressed and if it greater than one it is a stretch.
  • The variable H, determines if the shape shifts left and right. +H will shift to the left, and -H will shift to the right. K determines the shift up and down. Basically the y-intercept.
  • The next and final topic about absolute values is the equations. One example on how to solve an equation would go like:
  • 3x +3 = 30 --> 3x = 27 --> x = 9 3x+3 = -30 --> 3x= -33 x=-11
  • So we put 2 to logb2=0, logb6=1, and logb8=2, which would make our new points (2,0), (6,1), and (8,2). Then we put it into our graph and now we are done.
  • Today's topic is Exponential and Logarithmic Functions (Graphing). So i have set up thes numbers (0.1.2), exponentially. so we need to switch it to logrithmic form to the other side, which is numbers 2, 6, 8.
  • the next topic will be common and uncommon equations. common equations have similar bases, for example, 5 and 25. 25 can turn into 5^2.
  • uncommon bases are numbers that have nothing in common, for example, 3 and 5. to solve these equations, you need to use log and divide the 2 numbers.
