Storyboard Text

  • Sensory neurons can sense when something is wrong on the outside
  • Hmmm, something doesn't seem right over there...I need to send a message...
  • Simon! Come here! I need to tell you something!
  • Something doesn't feel right...pass the message along!
  • The neurons pass this information along
  • The message travels quickly across the synapse, in this case, it will eventually reach neurons in the brain and spinal cord
  • This slide is moving quickly so I can pass this message!
  • Hey Jane! *Whispers* Dopamine
  • The neurons send the message (a dopamine neurotransmitter)  to other neurons without quite touching, but being close enough with a tiny  gap between the neurons
  • The sensory neurons then pass the message along to other neurons that can carry out the needed actions
  • Billy! I have to tell you something!
