Storyboard Text

  • Hey Fred! Wanna help me build a deck?
  • No problem Larry! We probably should make a drawing of the deck first so we don't mess up!
  • I'm building my deck here. I figure we should use a scale drawing to figure out the dimensions. Maybe 1 foot equals 1/2 inch?
  • Dude! I love that idea. That way we can easily figure out how much wood to buy! Lets get that drawing done Larry!
  • I got you dude! 20 feet would be 10 inches and 24 feet would be 12 inches using our scale!
  • Okay.so my deck drawing shows that the deck will be 20 feet by 24 feet. I need to label my scale drawing..Help!
  • So you're telling me I can use scale to build this deck!!
  • Sure thing man! You just convert the measurements using our scale and we know how much wood to buy!
  • Alright man, let go in here and buy our wood! How do I use my scale to figure out how much to buy?
  • 20 ft x 24 ft = 480 Square feet of wood that you need!
  • Dude man..are you serious? We already talked about this. Your drawing was 10 inches by 12 inches with a scale of 1/2 in to a foot. How many 1/2 inches in 10 inches? 20! How many 1/2 inches in 12 inches? 24!. You deck will be 20 x 24 feet!
  • Wow man! Thanks for your help on my deck..It looks great thanks to you and your fancy scales! Remind me how to do that again..
  • Well, we used a scale of 1/2 inch = 1 foot so we didn't need to draw some huge picture of the deck. Then we just converted from 1/2 inches to feet. easy!
