It was 8:00 am and I had to go to court at 9. I was participating in my annual jury duty, and I had to decide if I should give a slave freedom. I wasn't a racist or anything of the sort but if other people on the jury say no, I obviously have to agree.
I walked into the court room and instantly saw the couple. They were speaking and from the looks on their face they looked pretty worried. I looked around and they were the only colored people there, and I'm sure the rest of the people in the court were racist.
The actual session was over and now it was time for the jury to decide. Instantly when we were left alone I heard people say,"Those n****s need to stay slaves. Thats what they were born to do!" I was disgusted, no one knew I didn't believe in racism and I of course wasn't going to tell them.
