The Separatists wanted to choose which religion they wanted to follow so they decided to sail to the new world.
These Englishmen originally had two ships; the Mayflower and the Speedwell. When the Speedwell was having problems, everyone crammed into the Mayflower.
The beginning of the journey went well for the voyagers, but the ship was very crowded.
Because of their late start, the voyagers faced intense storms. One man was washed off of the ship, but was pulled back on by a rope. Though the small boat suffered from damages, it was quickly repaired by the crew.
They stopped at Cape Cod and settled nearby at a place called Plymouth. After 66 days they had made it to America.
Once they had made it to America, they settled down and began building their homes. The Mayflower left on April 5, 1621.
