Storyboard Text

  • Hi Josie! My name is Bethany and I am your babysitter! Tonight, we are going to learn about heat and thermodynamics!
  • Do you feel that warmth on your face and hands? That heat is transferred from the fire. It is called radiation.
  • I am hungry. How about if we make smores?
  • Notice how it is warmer upstairs than it was downstairs. That is because of convection. Hot air rises and cold air sinks!
  • Yeah whatever. I got the stuff for smores. Let's go.
  • I want hot chocolate.
  • The marshmallows touching the fire is called conduction.
  • The pot heating up the hot chocolate is a conductor because it is a metal containing heat.
  • That would be REALLY cold hot chocolate!
  • That reminds me! I have not taught you about absolute zero. Absolute zero is 459.67 degrees Fahrenheit. It is when there is zero particle movement at all. It is impossible to reach.
