  • Jamie, I will like to speak with you after class today. Please stay.
  • He didn't do his homework again. How can he not do his homework every day??
  • Ms. Lean should talk to him. I wonder if he will be able to graduate.
  • Why are you not doing your homework?
  • I will talk to your mom about this situation.
  • What did you do?
  • What time do you go to the gym?
  • I did not I have enough time to do my homework.
  • I went to the gym. And when I cam back home it was too late, so I went to bed.
  • I go to the gym at 7 p.m.
  • My mom will be too busy to talk to you.
  • I talked your mom yesterday and she told me that you do not do anything after school. We have decided to make you stay after school and have you do your homework here.
  • Uhm...okay.
  • Once you can handle your homework on your own, you may stop coming to me after class.
  • You are doing well in class, Jamie! I heard that your grades also went up in the other classes too.
  • Thank you, Ms. Lean.
  • Yeah, Jamie. You seem so different in class. I can see that you are trying.
  • Jamie, I think you changed a lot!
  • Instead of de-escalating Jamie, Ms. Lean tries to find out why Jamie isn't able to do his homework. First, she speaks to Jamie privately. She tries to see what is going on. After she speaks to his mom for help. Jamie's mom allows Jamie to stay after to school to finish his homework before coming home. Teacher, Jamie and mom work together to help Jamie improve at school.
  • Jamie is now encouraged and he uses his time wisely. He thanks the teacher for speaking to privately instead of speaking to him in front of the whole class. Now he is getting in the habit of doing his work. He does not seem that homework is that hard anymore.
