  • In Ancient Greece, the King and Queen of Thebes were expecting a baby. In hopes of knowing the future, the royal family went to visit the oracle that predicted that the kid will kill his father. The logical thing to do was for them to have their baby killed, but out of luck it was given to the king and queen of corinth.
  • Climax
  • The theme of the story was that you can´t escape fate. The fate of Oedipus was that he was going to kill his father then marry his mother.
  • Falling Action
  • On his way to Thebes, Oedipus encountered an old man who hit him for walking too slow. In rage, Oedipus killed the old man and his soldiers, it was a massacre.
  • Resolution
  • Oedipus soons discovers that he had killed his father, and married his mother making the prophecy come true. He comes home to find that His mother hung herself and in his disgust of his actions he gouges his eyes out.
  • Oedipus decides that what is the best for the kingdom is to banish himself, leaving his two sons to rule. He takes with him his daughters as he walks blind out of the city.
  • Oedipus walks the desert blind as a beggar and after a few years he dies.
