I saw it but I did not think it was funny at all. Do you know how much it hurt her?
Do you see that hilarious thing I said about Margie on Twitter yesterday? I got so many retweets.
Because of what you said she's been sad all day. Everybody has been laughing at her. You are not a good digital citizen.
It was just a joke. What's the big deal? She doesn't need to be a drama queen.
I didn't realize it would have that big of an effect. How can I be a good digital citizen?
There are many things you can do to be a good digital citizen. Here are just a few ways. Whenever you post something online make sure that you don't say anything that you wouldn't want to say to their face. You also do not post anything you wouldn't like there forever, because it will be there forever even if you delete it. It is also important to not believe everything you read, there is a lot of false information on the internet. Finally, don't spend all your time online since you can experience many things outside your phone or computer screen!
One way you can avoid saying mean things on the internet is through the app ReThink. Whenever you're about to post something that may be hurtful to someone it will stop you before you post it so you can rethink whether you should say that or not.
I think I will need that app after what I said about Margie. I will really try to be a good digital citizen so I don't hurt someone like that again.
