Storyboard Text

  • The Lord sent me a letter to visit the castle so that he could speak to me.
  • Medieval Europe
  • But this is a town of only peasants?  Why would he want to see you?
  • Visiting the Lord
  • Welcome Miles!  I was wondering if you would like to try out for my force of knights!
  • Trying Out
  • The only way to join the force, it to slay the enemy.
  • The peasants back in medieval times had no reason to be called upon by their lord or king.  This is why it was shocking to the peasants.
  • Going into Battle
  • In the Middle ages, the king always had a group of designated knights who would protect him.  It was nearly impossible that a peasant would move up in class.
  • The Ceremony
  • I now declare Sir Hamlet, knight
  • According to the Feudalism pyramid, the peasant would have raised up one step.  This did not happen unless if they had proved themselves and were noticed by a vassal or a lord.
  • Returning Home
  • Hamlet!  You've returned!  How did it go?  Are you an official knight?
  • Yes! I was noticed by a nobleman in the raid on the village.  He said I fought well.  I had to go into another battle as well to prove myself.
  • The knight had then entered the battlefield as his second test of becoming a knight.  If he had survived and won, then he would have become a true knight after the ceremony.
  • Now you must prepare yourself for the battlefield!
  • The ceremonies for becoming knight were truly magnificent.  For these Medieval warriors had many life and death situations.  They had reached their life goal.
  • Sir Hamlet had completed his steps to becoming a knight and was now one of the royal guard.  This took much hard work and time in the Medieval ages which made the royal guard small.
