#### Storyboard Text

• This is Jones. Jones is a happy farmer who puts his mathematics degree to use and has a healthy sleep schedule.
• Which is why he was asleep when this happened.
• what happened to my house?!
• well... I haven't brushed up on my trig in a while...
• so I guess... if the vertex angle of the roof is now 48°, and the roof still has the same width of 10 feet, then the formula tan(24)=5/x can be used to find that the height of the roof is now roughly 11.23 feet.
• oh my there's more...
• crop triangles? really? Ok, lets see... that triangle looks to be around 6 feet wide from here, and if the adjacent angle is say, 44°, then the formula cos(44)=6/x can be used to find that the hypotenuse of this triangle is about 8.34 feet long.
• my corn too?
• Its all pointy... but how pointy? hmm... if the base of the corn is about 2 inches, and the sides are 3 inches long, then the formula sin(x)=2/3 can find that the vertex angle of my now triangular corn is close to 41.81°. • And so jones slept that night knowing that he still remembered his trigonometry... and that this would make the most interesting news his town had heard in a long time...
