  • Travel to the new world to see if these myths of gold and riches are true!
  • From a young age, Hernando Cortes was a restless, aggressive man who was eager for adventure, hungry for wealth and ambitious for power.
  • Send this gold back to the king of Spain!
  • In 1519, he was given permission to adventure to Mesoamerica to reveal the truth about many stories of gold and riches.
  • Upon landing, he learned that the stories of gold and riches were true.
  • I name you, governor of New Spain!
  • Hernando Cortes then sent a sample of the gold back to spain in hope to earn an official appointment.
  • After over two years, Hernando Cortes had completed the conquest of the natives, 'the Aztecs'. 
  • When he returned home, he was named governor of new Spain and began to set up the roots of a Spanish colonial government.
