In 1519, he was given permission to adventure to Mesoamerica to reveal the truth about many stories of gold and riches.
Upon landing, he learned that the stories of gold and riches were true.

Hernando Cortes then sent a sample of the gold back to spain in hope to earn an official appointment.
After over two years, Hernando Cortes had completed the conquest of the natives, 'the Aztecs'.
When he returned home, he was named governor of new Spain and began to set up the roots of a Spanish colonial government.
