This is the initial conversation between Thomas and Carlos had. There they made a bet that Thomas couldnt jump over a 6"6 hurdle
1 YEAR LATER
Holm and Thomas are the final competitors.
Thomas had never practiced high jump in his life. But toady he had come to show Carlos Mattis he had hops.
After Thomas cleared a 7 foot pole he impressed Mattis so much he invited him to join the schools high jump team where he broke school records and learned how to high jump
Turns out.. you're actually just really bad at what you do and are only successful due to genetics.
A year later. In August, Thomas entered the World Tournament held in Osaka where he is top 2 with the previous champion Holm, a high jumper who has been training for 20+ years.
After winning the championship in Osaka, although Thomas had no in high jump, he left Japan as the world high jumping champion. A genetic rarity beat out a man with 20+ yr love for the sport.
I PRESENT YOU GUYS WITH OUR CHAMPION. THOMAS!!!
After his win doctors concluded that in reality Thomas had no actual skill. He had a giants achilles tendon, the most crucial muscle to jumping. Hence his success with almost no training over a man who had been training longer than Thomas had been alive.
