I am a Bug!! Oh Nooo! How will I go to work? I can't even get up!!
(Gregor is in his room, listening) His family has saved some of the money he gave them from working Mum: "I have asthma so I can't work." Dad: "I let myself go, I could try to work, but it will turn out bad." Grete: 'I hope to go to music school one day!' (Is also the closest to Gregor)
Three strangers staying at their home: Dad: "Grrrr, get away from my daughter" Mom: "Oh, he's not happy about them being here either." Grete: *playing violin*
Dung Beetle: The dung beetle is a symbol of how Gregor feels in life. He feels like he is just a bug in the home of his family, and that he cannot do anything on his own anymore. He needs immense support from his family, and his parents didn't want to focus on him, they wanted to focus on getting a better life and deal with their daughter, not with an Adult Gregor.
Expressionism: A style of painting, music, or drama in which the artist or writer seeks to express emotional experience rather than impressions of the external world. I believe when Gregor hides and crawls around under furniture and stuff that it is showing that even though gregor was originally human, that he now feels like a big bug that is bothering his house.
He is a human!! He feels so sick and confused with like that he believes he is a bug and acts like a bug. I think all the stress in his life turned him mentally unstable.
