Genesis 11 talks about the aftermath of the world flood. The remaining people wanted to build a tower out of pride and arrogance to reach heaven. God came down and confused their languages and spread them out. Originally they were supposed to spread out because God wanted but they didnt, they stood in one place.
"But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building." (Genesis 11:5)
Let's build a tower to heaven!
"The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other." (Genesis 11:6)
"That is why it was called Babel—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth." (Genesis 11:9)
The life lesson of this story is to put aside your pride and arrogance because it can blind you.
