  • Ring, ring! It's lunch time! -All the students rushed out to lunch while Fadi was finishing up his last touches to his drawings of amoebas and other single-celled micro-organisms-
  • 
  • He hadn't said anything to anyone since homeroom that morning, and no one had made the effort to talk to him. This shows the struggles he had when facing other students as he was not able to fit in. He felt lonely and invisible to the other students since he is different in his own background story.
  • It's as if I don't exist.
  • Fadi proceeded to the cafeteria all on his own.
  • Fadi struggles to find a certain destination, the lunchroom, in his school. This shows that he is unable to adapt and might need some time to get used to the school since no one was willing to help him and instead he was just left alone.
  • Fadi referred to the school map on the back of his schedule to find his way to the cafeteria.
  • 
  • Finding his way to the lunchroom on his own, without any help, can allow me to conclude that Fadi is independent. Despite having difficulties getting to know the new environment, he is able to help as well as to lead himself on his own into finding his way to the lunchroom that is completely unknown to him.
  • Eventually, with only one wrong turn that had him double back, he found the lunchroom.
