My Jazzy Weekend by:Aiyanna James Period:4 April 17,2018
Title & Intro
Hi, my name is Alice and this is the first weekend of summer. My mom who works as a flapper a free and independent women works at a speakeasie though I'm not aloud to go with her because it is an illegal bar only for grown ups.
On Friday my mommy and my older brother tom were on the way to get me to go to the theater when they encountered a prohibition rally fighting to keep alcohol illegal. My mom dose not agree with this , because it is a freedom to do what you want with limitations.
After returning home to get me, we were off to the Nederlander Theatre in the heart of New York city to see my favorite singer Billie Holiday preforming my favorite song strange fruit. She was one of the best female jazz artist in the 20's.
Saturday we got tickets to see one of the best baseball players of all time Babe Ruth since my brother wanted a signed ball. Babe Ruth was on the best teams in NYC the Yankees, and later on the Red Sox.
Sunday, the last day of our first jazzy weekend we went to Harlem to find outfits for our cousins weeding coming up. On the way to the store we overheard a conversation about the Harlem Renaissance being the start of a golden age for African americans an explosion of artists and new social advances. I hope you enjoyed the end.
