A3, S4: The murderers tell Macbeth that Banquo is dead but Fleance escapes. Macbeth, angry, returns the banquet to find the ghost of Banquo sitting in his throne. Macbeth shouts at the ghost and Lady Macbeth covers for him. The nobles become suspicious.
A4, S1: Macbeth walks in on the witches casting a spell. He demands information and they reveal he was so safe until Birnam Wood came to his castle, he should fear no man born of woman and Macduff. Macbeth is comforted but decides to send murderers to Macduff's house in case.
A4, S3: Macduff is talking to Malcolm in England, trying to join the fight against Macbeth. Malcolm does not trust Macduff and tries to test his loyalty. However, Ross arrives and gives him the news of his slaughtered family. Macduff's outrage and sadness convince Malcom that Macduff can be trusted.
A5, S3: Macbeth is in his castle with the doctor and his servant, Seyton. Macbeth insists on wearing his battle armour though the army of 10,000 English are still some way off. He tells the doctor that he must cure his wife of her delusions.
A5, S2: Some lords, about to join the English army that marches North, are discussing Macbeth's rushed and rage-filled attempts to fortify his castle.
Torn with guilt, Lady Macbeth kills herself as the troops arrive. Macbeth still believes he can win because of the witches' prophecy and decides to fight. However, Macduff was born by C-Section and can kill Macbeth. Macduff chops Macbeth's head off and returns the crown to Duncan's sons.
