As oceans can only hold a specific amount of water, the water from the melted ice caps flows onto the land, drowning nearby land and housing.
Global warming caused by human activity has therefore resulted in the temperature to rise. This will furthermore damage the ice caps and lead to problems such as droughts.
Although this problem of global problem can't be reversed, there are many ways we can still stop it from elevating. Some include: riding bikes/public transport, reduction of deforestation & planting more, renewable energy and sustainable agriculture practices.
